zahai from Berlin, GermanyTouching capture. Results in a lot of thought about how people deal with loss and death. As for the technical aspect, nicely composed and toned. Well done. 15 Jan 2009 8:36am Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australiadeath. a subject not covered much as a general rule. headstones fascinate me. usually in excellent surroundings that I love to photograph. well done Stoveperson 15 Jan 2009 11:10am @Matt Sutton: I appreciate the comment. Yes, it's a subject always some distance in front of us, never comfortably approached. A sight like this is just a bizarre way of thrusting it back into our faces. sophron from berlin, Germanyto me this gravestone appears to be much less "tasteless" than most of the angelic ones of it´s kind. - was the smiley of a bright yellow? ... And always look on the bright side of life (for composition reasons you maybe should have stepped a little to the left hidning the bench and facing the tombstone fully frontal.) 15 Jan 2009 11:48am Robert from Kingsville, CanadaWonder if the departed chose this for a marker? Certainly is different. 15 Jan 2009 1:15pm Pradeep from Chennai, IndiaI guess everyone has their reasons. Nice monochromatic processing :) 15 Jan 2009 5:34pm @Pradeep: hey, it was a monochromatic picture. And death is traditionally a fairly monochromatic concept, though not always.... thanks for the comment. grant from kansas city, United Statesamazing. your title says it for me. quite a coincidence, we both have humorous cemetery pics up today... 15 Jan 2009 7:09pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesDuude... that's awesome! Thank you very much for sharing, now I too have seen everything. Was the happy face in yellow though? 15 Jan 2009 8:17pm @Howard F.: Haha, thanks. I fear I offended a few folks with this one. Anyway no, the smiley is in traditional gravestone colors, just engraving and polishing, no paint or dye. Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomEveryone to their own...! I think it looks good - SMILE - I'm gone lol. 16 Jan 2009 4:20am djedfre from schaumburg, United Statesgreat find! 16 Jan 2009 10:40am shallowregret from Kongsberg, Norwayomg, don´t think thats even legal in this country :-) 16 Jan 2009 3:58pm |
