Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australiaexceptionally well done Stovie. the reeds and the windmill lean together almost as if against the elements. 14 Jan 2009 7:23am @Matt Sutton: Spot-on observation, leaning "as if against the elements". That was exactly what struck me when composing the shot, and why I titled it as such. Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesGreat color and composition. The busted windmill looks almost like it's part of the vegetation, leaning into the same direction. Stunning shot Stovepipe. 14 Jan 2009 8:16am @Howard F.: Thanks - I'm glad the photo conveys what I felt at the scene. GJC from Kyoto, JapanI enjoyed looking through your photos for this month; don't know how I've missed such a creative blog. But of all I've seen, I like this the best. The muted colors and the silence and the sense of quiet resignation are really fine. Thanks for sharing. 14 Jan 2009 10:54am @GJC: Such a nice compliment, thank you. Jean-François from LES ISSAMBRES, Francewow une superbe ambiance ! ...************ 14 Jan 2009 10:56am @Jean-François: :-) Robert from Kingsville, CanadaSends a familiar and comfortable feeling to me , have always liked photos in the fog ! Keep that camera . 14 Jan 2009 12:50pm @Robert: Absolutely have to take advantage of foggy days when they are here! Thanks. twodot from New York, United StatesAt the top of Markle Pass in Montana there is an unpaved road with a sign that says, "Broken Windmill Road". The road has a locked gate and about 100 feet further is a broken windmill that looks just like yours. Now I wonder why I didn't snap a photo... 14 Jan 2009 2:03pm @twodot: Maybe the locked gate had something to do with it? john4jack from Corvallis, United StatesOld windmills are wonderful. Excellent photograph. It's great to know that there are those still using film. What a diverse array of equipment you have. 14 Jan 2009 3:17pm @john4jack: Thanks for the comment. Equipment is fun, but my total number of cameras is still under two dozen, I think. A friend of mine owns over a hundred, so I can point and say HE's crazy. ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesIowa all over it. best...jerry 14 Jan 2009 3:51pm @Eleftheria: :-) thanks Sof from Neuchâtel, SwitzerlandJolie photo...ambiance froide et tout semble isolé 14 Jan 2009 5:11pm @Sof: I'm going to assume that was a compliment! :-) Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesOh, I really like this one. That old windmill looks like it's bracing itself against the wind...or maybe time itself. The background is wonderful too. 14 Jan 2009 11:20pm @Chris Parr: Thanks. A good foggy day can be a treasure. I like the 'bracing against time' idea. grant from kansas city, United Statesgreat shot - i can see why it's a favorite. 15 Jan 2009 12:36am @grant: thanks grant. Suzanne from Huntington Bch, CA, United StatesMarvelous landscape. The way the windmill leans the same way as the grass is wonderful. 15 Jan 2009 2:16am @Suzanne: glad you liked it. bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaOh my, this is just stunning! The cold feeling of the fog and the snow, the loneliness and silence that surrounds is just amazing! 15 Jan 2009 4:11am @bluechameleon: Ironically, it was a warm day, relatively speaking. Almost a thaw. But the look does suggest otherwise. Thanks for the comment. @Damon Schreiber: :-) thanks Michael Rawluk from Williams Lake, BC, CanadaThat is a wonderful composition and magical lighting. 19 Jan 2009 3:05am @Michael Rawluk: "Right place at the right time." Thanks. Diane Schuller from Hythe, CanadaI can see why it's a favourite. Really fantastic 9 Feb 2009 10:35pm |
